Consent

The definition of the term “consent” is stated in section 74 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 (S.O.A). This section states that “a person consents if he agrees by choice, and has the freedom and capacity to make that choice”.

Common assault (sometimes referred to as simple assault) is the least serious form of assault. As an offence, common assault covers anything from making somebody believe you are going to hit them to inflicting a severe beating where no injury is caused.
